Tell your Legislators: Repeal Michigan's 1931 Criminal Abortion Ban

Last November, supporters like you helped pass Proposal 3, enshrining the right to reproductive freedom for all into the Michigan Constitution.

Now, the state legislature is considering a package of bills that would repeal the unconstitutional 1931 abortion ban, further strengthening Michigan’s status as a haven state for reproductive health care.

On Wednesday, Planned Parenthood of Michigan’s Chief Medical Operating Officer Dr. Sarah Wallett testified before the Michigan House Judiciary and State Senate Health Policy committees, urging them to repeal the ban. You can listen to Dr. Wallett’s testimony here.

The legislation was voted out of both committees and is now moving through the full House and Senate.

This is a historic moment and it is imperative that we do everything in our power to ensure that our rights to reproductive health care remain protected.

That is why we are asking for a moment of your time to affirm to the legislature that Michiganders overwhelmingly support access to safe, legal abortion.

Can we count on you to reach out to your legislators today and urge them to repeal the 1931 abortion ban once and for all?

A year ago, we were facing an uphill battle full of seemingly insurmountable obstacles. Today, Michigan’s future is bright and full of promise – because of Michiganders like you. Thank you for standing with us as we continue to fight for everyone’s right to access the high-quality, affordable reproductive health care they deserve—including abortion.
