Senator Gary Peters Fights for Struggling Michiganders amidst the COVID-19 Crisis

Senator Gary Peters has been fighting to improve public health and expand health care access for decades. We are proud to have him fighting for Michiganders in the U.S. Senate.

When the COVID-19 pandemic struck, Senator Peters recognized that Michiganders needed immediate support in order to keep communities healthy and stay afloat financially. He immediately went to work writing and passing legislation to provide critical funding and assistance. Since the beginning of the crisis, Senator Peters has continuously delivered results for Michiganders. So far Senator Peters has:

  • Introduced and passed the Free COVID-19 Testing Act to make sure all Americans have adequate testing access.

  • Written, introduced and helped pass the Pandemic Unemployment Assistance Act to expand unemployment benefits and get more aid for more workers over a longer period of time.

  • Fought to expand the funding available for small business loans and grants in the CARES Act, including funding for women and minority-owned businesses.

  • Secured funding for hospitals, health care workers and our health care system.

Senator Peters has proposed additional measures including a "Coronavirus Heroes Fund" that would provide a $25,000 pay increase for essential workers serving on the front lines of the pandemic.

We are still in the midst of this crisis and our communities need continued support from Congress. We are glad that Senator Gary Peters is in our corner and fighting for Michigan women and families.
