25 Years of Coming Out!

25 Years of Coming Out!

October 11 is National Coming Out Day. This year’s theme is “Coming Out Still Matters.”

The first National Coming Out Day was celebrated 25 years ago at the National March on Washington for Lesbian and Gay Rights. Today, coming out remains a powerful tool in the LGBT community.

No matter your sexual orientation, gender identity, or sex, Planned Parenthood is here for you. From nonjudgmental, accurate healthcare and accessible safer sex resources, Planned Parenthood supports the LGBTQ community, and its allies. Wondering what we offer? Find a health center near you to see the specific services offered.

For more on coming out, visit the Human Rights Campaign. They have support resources on a variety of topics including coming out, as well as a guide for allies. You can also find their state based advocacy efforts.

Do you want to get involved with one of our partners in Michigan? Equality Michigan has been working passionately for over 20 years to achieve full equality and respect for all people in Michigan regardless of sexual orientation, gender identity or gender expression.

With that, Happy National Coming Out Day! If you’re hosting an event in Michigan, share it with us on Facebook and Twitter!
